We here at La Molina are very aware of the negative impact a business in the tourism sector has on the environment.
From the outset and through the various development stages of La Molina, we have made a point of keeping the CO2 footprint as low as possible. La Molina is supporting an ecosystem that is healthy for humans, animals and insects on this small patch of earth.
through:
Improving bio-diversity
Use of natural and regional building materials (straw, natural stones from the land, clay/limestone sand)
Photovoltaic system for electricity and having our own well for water
Rainwater-collection
Ecological wastewater system
Use of ecologically degradable detergents
Organic land and horticulture
Encouraging for waste prevention and recycling
Invitation to consciously use natural resources
Today we would like to introduce to you, our dear visitors, our latest project:
Yes to carbon compensation!
The world is having a huge global problem. We call on the powerful of this world to finally act. Enough with the excuses and the talking.
Here, on La Molina, we also want to do more. We are giving you the opportunity to make even a small contribution towards making compensation for your increased carbon footprint - caused by your journey here:
Forest Garden on La Molina
Forest gardens or edible forests is an idea whose time has come. We are consciously applying the principles of ecology to the further design of La Molina. We are designing a forest ecosystem by planting edible trees and shrubs, thereby mimicking the structure and function of the forest ecosystem, which gives us humans, animals and insects food, fuel, fibre, feed, fertilizer and medicine.
The change in our society and its impact on the climate and to our Mother Earth requires us to learn to live within our energetic means and rebuild ecosystems that support human and animal life without diminishing the ecosystem.
We will plant a tree or shrub in the autumn months for every visitor who arrives by plane. We are very aware that this is only a small contribution to compensating for the CO2 cost of a flight. You are very welcome to finance or co-finance a tree and thus balance your own carbon footprint somewhat.
By the way: The trees and shrubs are irrigated from the river by a solar pumping system.
Thank you for visiting our homepage. We hope you like what you have seen and that we will be able to show you this small piece of paradise, that we have here in Andalucia.
